To celebrate the year which would have been Rory Gallaghers 75th birthday, our International Poetry Competition will be accepting poems inspired by Rory and his music.

Rules for Entries:
All poems, must be inspired by Rory Gallagher and his music. All must be submitted not later than midnight on Sunday 12th of April.
1. Email to: cobhrw@gmail.com
2. ONLY two entries per poet, and of NOT more than 40 lines. Please place in the body of an email or attach in electronic format, (Single spaced, Times New Roman, Size 12.)
3. Include a short 3rd person author bio, of NOT more than 120 words with your poem. Please ensure you let us know how Rory and his music inspired your poem.
4. Judging will be on anonymised entries.
5. Poem must be original work, and it MAY have been published before in any format, in print or online; yet you must have retained the right to publish the work elsewhere.
6. Please mark your entry clearly as Adult (18+) Category or Youth (12-18 yrs) Category in the header of the email.
7. Please note work cannot be altered once submitted for consideration. Double and triple check your work before you send it. Do not submit more than one document in an attempt replace an older submission. Duplicate submissions will not be considered.
8. We welcome poems in all languages. For poems that are not primarily in English, please include a translation of the non-English portion(s) of the poem. This is an accessibility consideration for our editorial staff, not an attempt to privilege the English language. Further please indicate IF you would permit your poem to be published with that accompanying translation in English.
9. Winning and highly commended poets will be invited to the Cobh Readers & Writers Festival poetry evening event on Saturday 22nd of April 2023.
Prize Details:
Adult (18+) Category Prize: €100
Youth (12-18 yrs) Category Prize: €50
(Winning and highly commended poets shall also received a gift bag, stuffed with writing goodies!)
Publication:
All winning, highly commended, and other selected poems shall be published in a Festival Journal.
A free electronic copy shall be provided to all published poets, and also a hard copy IF printed.
We believe in paying the artist, therefore as a NOT FOR PROFIT festival, the festival journal IF printed and offered for sale, shall result in any profit after costs been distributed to the published poets on a equal basis.
We believe in transparency, therefore all such details will be published publicly online.
