Poetry 2019

Thank you to everyone who took joined us for the Cobh Readers and Writers Poetry Evening on Saturday Night.

We really hoped you enjoyed the poets and that you’ll join us again soon. Our huge thanks to our special guest Paul Casey who read many outstanding poems including some from his two collections ‘Home more or less’ (2012) and ‘Virtual Tides’ (2016)which have been published through Salmon Poetry.

Our other guest poets Peter Walsh and Rude Judes gave fantastic presentations of their poems, from the heartbreaking to the hilarious!

We would like to announce the winning and highly commended poets of the 1st Annual Cobh Readers and Writers Poetry Competition.

The adult winner was Bernie Carney for her poem ‘Out of the Fog’ and the youth winner was Kaytlin Denehan Barry for her poem ‘Elysian’.Both poets were presented with their prizes on the night and their works were read to a rapt audience to great applause.

The highly commended poets for their fabulous work were, in no particular order.Frankie Lee, Linda Cashman, Clodagh Halpin, John Anthony Fingleton, Niall Herriott, MV Fabiyas, Mary Lavery Carrig, Anthony Willis and Colin DardisYou will be able to read the winning entries in print with the publication of the Festival Compendium which will be coming soon.
